About

Wiltshire Consulting (WC) Inc. is a professional practice dedicated to innovative support and training in risk management, internal audit and forensic investigations. While the majority of WC’s practice is with government departments and agencies, the methodologies, tools and techniques that WC employs work just as well in the private sector.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is quickly becoming a mainstream function of modern organizations but there is still a long road ahead. WC helps organizations establish and mature their ERM initiatives through innovative strategies such as integration of change management and the refinement of organizational values to reflect executive commitment.

WC is also able to assist organizations in strengthening their internal audit practices. In particular, clients have sought WC’s aid in enhancing their use of the risk-based methodologies, introducing modern techniques such as control self-assessment (CSA), or assisting them with sensitive forensic investigation.

WC is highly respected for competence and value added performance that is brought to each engagement. Equally, it is respected for the time and energy it takes to research current trends and best practices and bring fresh thinking to the needs of clients. Clients depend on WC to think outside the box.

Practice Leader – Colin Wiltshire CA, CFE, CIA, CCSA, CRMA

Colin’s background includes a solid foundation in accounting and auditing based on seven years in external auditing with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and over 10 years conducting internal audit projects for various federal government departments and agencies. This background has given Colin a deep understanding of the challenges and workings of government and its service and control needs.

Since the early 90’s Colin recognized the need to focus more directly on the conceptual dimensions of risk as a core element in balancing service and control. Over the past 20 years, he has been one of the country’s leading risk management trainers and thought leaders. His risk management methodologies have been designed and evolved to help the public sector achieve critical objectives and outcomes.

Colin’s work in risk management has covered a wide spectrum of government operations including grants & contributions, regulatory programs, and safety and security. In addition to developing his own risk eTools, Colin has designed risk systems for major departments and agencies. These risk systems provide significant efficiency benefits while ensuring the secure collection and access to robust risk data for improved decision-making, information sharing and communications.

Colin is a frequent presenter and speaker at risk and control conferences and is a member of the Society for Risk Analysis, the Global Association of Risk Professionals, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
